Hi

We have moved our website onto a new server

http://www.pigeonglobe.co.uk

They didn't give us time to move the forum onto our computer so that I could move this also.

Luckily I managed to find all the old files even though our domain is not active on our old server. I managed to find a folder called backup_full.gz from the 18th of August.

Is this the backup folder for the forum and IF SO how do we get the forum back on?

If anyone can help us we would be most helpful.... I have the old log in user info so you can view the files and I can provide the new FTP so that you can move them over.

WE ARE REALLY stressed we spent 6 months getting new members and now it may be lost!!!!

charlotte

Please don't write your topic in caps and mind your exclamation marks.

Bringing your backup back online should be rather easy. Extract it to where it should be on the new server, make sure the forum directory is where perl can be executed as CGI as on the old server. Open Settings.pl with your favourite text editor and edit everything that contains a path or an URL to the new settings (e.g /home/oldusername/oldpublichtml/oldCGI/forum to /home/shiny/cgi_bin/forum or so).

chmod the directories and Blah.pl as told in the howto! (make your backups with tar to avoid remodding files after restoring)

eblah should run fine afterwards.

sorry but i am panicking here that is why i wrote them in caps so that people would help rather than it be too late and my old server delete the files.

that means nothing to me, i am technically minded and had to have someone install the forum in the first place.

thanx for trying though

hi I managed to get the forum back up but the theme is missing and I can get onto the admin section to search new themes and set it.

I have uploaded the theme it had but for some reason it's not linking.

All the messages/members are there and people are able to post.

If anyone can access the FTP and help me today that would be great... I think someone needs to look at what I've done to see if I've done it right.

The link to the forum is in my signature.

Martin- thanks for your offer, I'm worried because we have paid sponsors and this kind of thing does not look good and waiting til tonight is gonna be a bit of a problem as we are chasing payment for one sponsor now. That said, if I can get the theme sorted and hopefully all the mods (chat room etc) are still there!

char x

As you have moved to a new server, your path's to /blahdocs etc will now be wrong, do you know what your new document_root is?

Also, try reading this if you can't wait until this evening.
