I saw your software on another site that a motorcycle organization uses that I am a member of. I had my own forum and  was using another board software (maybe should mentions the name Prob*a*d*) for my forum but was to controlling, too many advertisements, etc, down too much with "Too many connections", wanted to host my own board on my server.

Eblah was rated one of hte highest I could find in research.

I always go for tte best, never settle for second rate..

I think we're one of the few perl forums that are actually still being heavily worked on with releases all the time.    At least with several releases a year.

There really should be an option on the poll: I don't remember.

Seriously, I found out about E-Blah three years ago, and I haven't the slightest clue how! I was using YaBB, and somehow I switched to E-Blah. It must have been a boring day, because usually if a PERL script requires too much work to make it mork, I just abandon it; but not E-Blah. With the new admin panel and other cool stuff, I actually find administrating E-Blah, dare I say it, fun. (Wow, I am a geek.)

3 or 4 years ago I belonged to a group where they wanted me to be the forum admin - turned out to be an Eblah forum so I downloaded the pkg for myself & set it up on my own website so I could familiaraize myself with the board I was supposed to admin! I got right into it & even made some different templates.

I kind of stepped into it.  The person who used to administer the site for my organization just left for another job, and he left me a page of instructions and waved as he left.  I have never admin'd a forum before so I may be posting alot of questions for a while...be patient with me.  Thanks.

I had an old set of forums (phpBB...  less than exciting) and when they went down, I wanted to replace them with something better.  I did a ton of research and in the end I found that E-Blah had all the features I was looking for, and more!  I've been very happy with the forums since then.  My users see new features on occasion, and they see the improvements as well.  I wish I could have found E-Blah years ago...

The sites I used for research were: wikipedia and forummatrix.org.

Some of the things that lead me to E-Blah were the fact that the writers were still active in the software, the built in calendar, and the unlimited nesting of categories.

I got it from my web host, Heart Internet. I wasn't really looking for a board, but I just loved it, and here I am.

Google search for 'Internet Forum Software'
which then lead me to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Internet_forum_software
From wikipedia to http://www.forummatrix.org/
From ForumMatrix.org straight to the download page :p

I found eblah on my old hosting package with heartinternet, they offer an old eblah now. But I've since moved on to bigger and better hosting, and three hosts later I've taken eblah with me. I've been pondering about switching to smf because of the better themes, and a few extra features i like, but after testing smf, its just not eblah and the support didnt seem as good. I'm sticking with eblah.

Googled Perl OR CGI forums.  Found out in the Perl lingo "forum" isn't really used.  You'll just be driven to a forum about perl.  So started browsing free CGI script sites.  That's when I learned that in the Perl vocabulary, they're still being called Discussion, Community, and Bulletin Boards.  Started browsing that category and one had this as a 4/5 stars.

Ta-da.  I'm here.
