I have recently been seeing an unusual number of New Members to my forum. Anything from one to three a day, and they all give email addresses at one of three domains. There are also an unusually high number of new members with Hotmail accounts, but their email names are generally gibberish, and they never validate.

All of which combines to tell me these are all bots of some sort doing something I would rather they not do.

I would have no problem banning everyone from the three domains mentioned first. Can I use wildcards such as *@somedomain.com? I wouldn't want to do the same to the Hotmail address (I can easily enough delete them after they have sat unvalidated for a month.

The question is what I use for an IP address to ban them. The IP address given in the New Member notification? I have looked at various network tools (WHOIS, Trace, etc.) but nothing in those matches up with the one in the notice.

They do not do post, they just register, but add a sig to the account, check these new members, even if they have not posted

My website has been going thru a 'spam storm' for registration for months!!!!! Spam from all over the world are trying to register. I tried using the 'Human Verification' option but it doesn't work on my server. It just shows and 'error' when someone tries to register.

I have had the register option disabled for months. Is there another option out there? If there is one and it involves a script change or some computer programing.....I don't have a clue how to do that. Can anyone advise?
